Julian/Julián Cabezas, LCSW (he/him)
Hey, I'm Julian, I am a psychotherapist with experience helping individuals, couples, and partnerships navigate shaky times. As a BIPOC/queer/trans individual, I know what it can feel like to be worried about being misunderstood when searching for mental health providers. It's part of what brought me to the work, I dream about a world free from mental health stigma and moving society from hatred to compassion for ourselves and others.
As a trauma therapist, I see people who have experienced years of complex trauma ( many of my clients are survivors of childhood abuse) and single-incident trauma. Sometimes trauma can appear as depression, anxiety, attention issues, fogginess, constant fighting, etc-but at its core, it can be about some moment(s) someone has become stuck in.
I have training in a variety of modalities, but I think the big focus for me is that I don't see people as a diagnosis, instead I try to understand what's going on and what kind of life and relationship you want to have.
For those who nerd out on types of therapy, I utilize a mixture of Sex Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Imago Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Somatic EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I have terms of life paths; I have experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, Latinx, HIV care and support, parents, men/masculine, women & femmes, non-binary, kink, BDSM, sex workers, ethnically non-monogamous, and polyamorous people.
