Our Therapy Team

Carlos D. Martinez

I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern pursuing my Master’s degree at the College of Staten Island. As a first-generation Latine graduate student, I bring both my personal and professional experiences into the counseling room, creating a space that is affirming, compassionate, and culturally responsive. My goal is to support clients as they navigate challenges and build on their own strengths and resilience.

My counseling approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, while also remaining flexible and collaborative in tailoring sessions to each individual’s needs. I believe in meeting clients where they are, honoring their unique identities, and working together towards meaningful change.

I have a background in nonprofit and community work, where I focused on advocacy, career development, and supporting underserved populations. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to helping clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Isabela Larangeira, LMSW (she/her)

I work with everyone struggling, I especially understand the unique pressures that athletes and fitness-focused individuals face—the performance anxiety, the identity challenges when injury strikes, and the mental toll of constant self-improvement.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults. I am the kind of person who works with a growth mindset kind of style, so we see what you have and then make a plan of how to get you there.

I meet with people virtually throughout New York.

My standard individual session rate is $200, and $250 for couples; I have limited sliding scale slots. Please let me know if that would be helpful during our consultation.

About Me

I believe that healing happens when we can turn toward ourselves with curiosity and compassion—when we can understand the parts of us that are struggling, protecting, or holding pain. As a queer Chicano, psychotherapist, father, and someone who began my own therapy journey as a teenager working through childhood trauma, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to this work. Licensed in California and New York with over 8 years of experience, I specialize in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, helping individuals, couples, families, and teenagers navigate both everyday struggles and deep-rooted trauma.

My Approach

My work is grounded in the understanding that trauma—whether it's the "Big T" experiences that shake our foundation or the "little t" moments that accumulate over time—shapes how we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. I create a warm, collaborative space where we can explore what's happening beneath the surface and work together to untangle the patterns that keep you stuck.

I don't pathologize people. My own experience starting therapy as a teenager taught me that we all develop strategies to survive and cope with what we've been through. I work from a place of deep compassion for families—understanding that everyone is doing the best they can with the tools and circumstances they have. As a parent myself, I know firsthand the complexity of showing up for our children while navigating our own histories and healing.

I'm direct and genuine in my approach because I believe real change requires us to get to the root of what's happening. At the same time, I bring a trauma-informed lens that honors your pace and respects the protective strategies your system has developed. My style is conversational and relational—this is a partnership, and you're the expert on your own experience.

In addition to my clinical work, I've served as a practicum instructor for graduate students completing their clinical training at Northwestern University, Columbia University, Hunter College, and NYU, supporting the next generation of therapists in developing their skills and clinical identity.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years working in community health and advocacy. I provided HIV testing and counseling, worked on integrative care teams at Federally Qualified Health Centers working in collaboration with the New York City Department of Health expanding access to PrEP, ARVs, and gender-affirming care, was a member of the New York State HIV Advisory Body with the AIDS Institute, served two years in AmeriCorps supporting civic engagement with young adults mentoring students in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and worked as a Peer Health Educator focusing on food access and sexual education in the California State University system. This foundation taught me that healing isn't just personal—it's also about the systems and communities we're part of.

Let's Work Together

If you're looking for a space where you can show up as you are, explore what's keeping you stuck, and find your way back to yourself and your relationships, I'd be honored to walk alongside you. Therapy is an investment in yourself, and I'm here to support you in that journey.

Katie Liederman, LCSW, SIFI (she/her)

Therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who actually gets it. I'm not here to nod along while you talk—I'm here to work with you. Real, unfiltered, and focused on what actually matters to you. I believe healing happens when there's genuine connection, not clinical distance. You'll get honesty, some humor, and a therapist who shows up as a real person you can trust.

I work with adolescents and adults who are ready to do the work. My approach is collaborative and goal-oriented: we figure out where you are, where you want to be, and build a practical plan to get there. No therapist cliches, intentional, focused work that moves you forward.

I specialize in:

Anxiety and trauma (panic attacks, chronic worry, hypervigilance, reclaiming your sense of safety)

Polyamory and ethical non-monogamy for couples

Sexual concerns including pain during sex, erectile challenges, performance anxiety, desire discrepancies, and shame around sexuality

Gender and sexuality exploration and distress

Pregnancy, intimacy during pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and parenthood challenges

My work integrates emotionally focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy frameworks, and intersectional feminist theory.

I offer virtual sessions throughout New York State.

You don't need to have it all figured out to start therapy. If you're dealing with stress that won't quit, anger you can't seem to control, relationship issues, or just feeling stuck—you're in the right place. I work with people who are ready to cut through the noise and build a life that actually aligns with what matters to them.

I'm a therapist who uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—practical, action-oriented approaches that focus on what works, not endless talking about feelings. We identify the thoughts and patterns keeping you trapped, challenge the negative stories you tell yourself, and create concrete strategies to move forward.

I specialize in:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overthinking

  • Anger management and emotional regulation

  • Depression and feeling stuck or unmotivated

  • Relationship and communication issues

  • Work-related stress, performance pressure, and burnout

  • Life transitions (career changes, fatherhood, divorce, loss)

  • Trauma and its aftermath

  • Young Adults

My approach is direct, collaborative, and results-focused. I'm not here to keep you in a ranting circle or waste your time—I'm here to help you build skills, take action, and create lasting change. We work on identifying what you value, what's getting in your way, and how to align your actions with the life you actually want to live.

I offer virtual sessions throughout New York.

My standard individual session rate is $100, and the couples rate is $100; I have sliding-scale slots that start at $60. Please let me know if that would be helpful during our consultation.

Zoe Lahm

( she/her)

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Warren Wilson College and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Social Work at the University of New Hampshire. My clinical orientation is grounded in psychodynamic and relational traditions, and I approach therapy with curiosity for the unique inner world of each client.

My work is shaped by an interest in the stories we carry - about our identities, families, and experiences. I draw from a range of somatic and narrative approaches to help clients access deeper self-awareness and resilience. In the therapy space, I invite clients to explore the patterns that shape their relationships, with others and with themselves, and to notice what arises when those patterns are gently paused or shifted. My goal is to co-create a space where healing feels both possible and supported.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples navigating trauma, identity exploration, relational stress, and transitions. I welcome clients of all identities and relationship structures. You can reach me at zoe@cabezastherapy.com.
