Carlos D. Martinez
I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern pursuing my Master’s degree at the College of Staten Island. As a first-generation Latine graduate student, I bring both my personal and professional experiences into the counseling room, creating a space that is affirming, compassionate, and culturally responsive. My goal is to support clients as they navigate challenges and build on their own strengths and resilience.
My counseling approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, while also remaining flexible and collaborative in tailoring sessions to each individual’s needs. I believe in meeting clients where they are, honoring their unique identities, and working together towards meaningful change.
I have a background in nonprofit and community work, where I focused on advocacy, career development, and supporting underserved populations. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to helping clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.
