At some point, on our way to a new consciousness, we will have to leave the opposite bank, the split between the two mortal combatants somehow healed so that we are on both shores at once and, at once, see through serpent and eagle eyes.
Hi, I'm Julian Cabezas, LMSW(he/they)
I am a queer, trans, Chicanx, mixed race therapist focused on working with individuals and partnerships. At this time, I don't work with families but can provide a referral to one of my colleagues. My hope is for each person I met to enhance your skills to move more joyfully in your relationships, your daily habits and your future goals. I utilize an intersectional feminist framework as I listen to your life stories and beliefs. I was raised in a mixture of lots of cultures and households as a youth, which gave me the benefit of learning firsthand how each community has a unique way of living. Moving me to believe that seeing people in a monolithic way just dims the array of layers. As a sex therapist, I am dedicated to affirming language for your body, your stories, your community and your future. The majority of people who reach out to me are BIPOC, LGBTQQIP2SAA, kinky, non-monogamous, spiritual and allies. As a person, I enjoy learning and engaging with all types of cultures so I feel privileged to be able to hold space for the people who reach out to me.
I am a Field Instructor for Columbia University's School of Social Work and supervise two grad level social work interns who provide sessions at a sliding scale.
I am in group practice with Wiser Sex Therapy Associates. All sessions are conducted over HIPPA compliant platforms like Doxy or Zoom. I am located just across from Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY on the original land of the Munsee Lenape people.
